Lots of useful advice. Thanks girls! I've been using embroidery scissors (stork) but will try scalpel next time. The most difficult part is the first cut, I agree, Lyn.

This isn't Jackson Pollock inspired it's Lyn inspired me, I cut up a piece of felt work that has been hanging around for years, I've never liked it, so I chopped it up, re arranged the slices and stitched back together, then cut out hearts and needled them onto another happy mistake piece, now I'm challenging my self to make each heart into a scene, a scene that comes out of the magic of the colours, so this first one I've called Sun Shine On.... feltingandfiberstudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/09/hearts.jpgfiles.wordpress.com/2016/09/ggzrmia1_yyp1w5flbu3.jpg

Great idea Carol! They turned out really well and will make some interesting scenes. I hope you post your finished peices. It is always great when you can turn something you don't like into something you do like.

Carole, Playing around is half the fun of it (at least half)! I also enjoy repurposing previous mistakes into new works of beauty! Looking forward to seeing your other results.

Nice idea - Those smaller pieces of 'mistakes' look great!

brilliant idea Carole, not sure if this where you are going with them, but I really like them as group on the pink fabric (is it silk?).

I have another finished, but I didn't want to heart bomb this thread!!! so maybe when they are all done I'll put them up - they are addictive, so small but detailed, the pink fabric isn't silk (if only *sigh*) and thank you for you lovely comments you've given me energy to keep going with them :-)

Carole - just start a new thread in wet felting or stitching or mixed media. Wherever you think it fits. Then you can keep adding as we'd love to see all your little hearts!

I tried that yesterday, but it wanted a https// address for the photo's so maybe I have to upload them somewhere and then import them, I tried importing them from my facebook page but that wasn't working either - do you any tips as I worked it out once but can't remember the process :-)

Hello Carole - use the 'reply' button (not 'quick reply') and there is an option to 'add attachment' so that you can upload photos from your computer. p.s. 1MB per photo is max - there are free photo editing packages, such as PIC MONKEY, if you need to reduce the size of your photos.

thank you Lyn, that's really helpful, I still think I'm doing something wrong, if I want to start a thread, for example under wet felting and put up work - as I will be the one starting the thread when I press pictures it asks for a https address - that's when I get muddled - to be fair I am often muddled :-)
