Sulasmom and I ordered 29 pounds of roving from RHLindsay and it arrived this week. You get free shipping if you order it by the 29 pound ball. They actually sent 29.9 pounds and we split it. I forgot to get photos of the whole 30 pounds but here's a photo of half of it. Tomorrow we're going to have a dyeing party. More photos to follow This wool is solidly packed, you can kind of tell the size by the chair it is sitting on. It's the Domestic 56s top. Attachments:

Sounds like fun, hope you have some enormous pots to dye that lot!!! What type of dyes are you going to use Ruth? I've just dyed some yarns with elderberry, ivy leaves and pomegranate. Actually I though of you whilst the pots were bubbling away - the elderberry is purple and of course I had pomegranate too! It's interesting that the pink pomegranate liquid produces a lovely mustardy yellow!

LOL - Luckily, I a not dyeing the entire thing tomorrow. I'll do a variety and then do more later when I need it. I am planning on using acid dyes. I don't have any natural dyes going at the moment. I need wool to make my cat toys and people like bright colors for those. Not sure why, as I'm not sure that cats even see colors. I would love to see the yarns you dyed. I always marvel at the colors that come from natural dyes, nothing ever comes out as I would expect. Purple Pomegranates are the best!

Congratulations Ruth. Isn't it exiting when your wool comes. It is fun the do a day long dying party. What kind of wool is it? With cat toys you are appealing to people not the cat. The cat would be happy with white.

I'll be there zed!! I don't stand much chance of winning the Lottery - I never buy any tickets!

If I'd been wise and saved my money instead of wasting it on lottery tickets (can't stop now because I've used the same numbers since day one) I could probably hire Necker Island for a dyeing party. Ah well, live and learn.

When it first started, our daughter said that the Lottery was a tax for the stupid! Undeterred, we went ahead and joined in, using the same numbers each week and found it difficult to stop - but we did, and after many years my husband did a check on those numbers to see what we might have won - he's a masochist - and found we would have had the grand sum of about £20!!

No way would I have checked the numbers! Did he hide the kitchen knife set from the family before he checked?

Yeah, I'll have to buy more than the occasional ticket for a chance to win. I keep meaning to, but my Dad would probably be a lot better off if he'd never bought any tickets. He got 5 numbers about 20 years ago and only got about £3000, and that was when a lot of people played and the pot was bigger.

I look at is as I wouldn't have saved the money anyway so no great loss. I do have a friend that won enough to buy a house. And aunt that won spot the ball in the UK.

My mom says the lottery is a tax on the people who don't understand statistics. I never buy a ticket either so I won't be winning anytime soon.
