Out of everyone I think I'm most worried about sharing these with you lot! Not because I think you'll be harsh or critical, but because felting is what you do, whereas I've been sharing these with people to whom felting is fairly new. It's taken me ages to get to this point, I had to teach myself the techniques I needed (I'm not in a position to attend classes) and build up a range of materials. I attended Woolfest 2013 and came home with many bags, much like many of you I'm guessing! Anyway, I've applied to enter next year's local open studio event and I'm using my felt paintings as a representation of where my artistic progression is right now. I had to choose four images and these were the four I chose: I've many, many more images to share, so I hope that you won't mind me doing that and getting some feedback. I have also done some wet felting, mostly as a comparison and experiment, but I'll share those in the other lounge!

I love your use of colour and your painting skills really show in your felting. Wonderful!
I'm looking forward to seeing the others - please post.

These are great - please post as much as you'd like. We love photos and love to see what everyone is doing. I think you can always learn something from others and that's why I like the forum so much. We get to share, ask questions and learn.

Thank you all so much! I must admit that because this is a new medium (to me) I'm still a bit unsure when sharing. My dipstick has been my husband, who is not arty at all, but knows what he likes (I'm not suggesting my husband is a dipstick, by the way!) He likes these, the colours especially, so I'm being guided by his "yes" and "no" as a first reaction. The first few paintings I did sold quite quickly, faster than I could frame them, which was really encouraging. I have many, many to share - I've found it quite addictive! I was painting today (with paint) and I almost felt that something was lacking! I think I may have caught "the bug"!

I think they are great and Lyn is right your painting skill shows. How big are the pictures and how much are you charging? if I might ask. I really like the purple one with sheep. that will surprise no one. If there is a choice of one with sheep and one without I will be with the sheep.

We are all different in how we work. I work more with mixed media and do just a little felting. I think it is an asset to come with a painters background. That is my background too. Your pictures are so good. I have never figured out how to get pictures on here. It always says my files are too big.

Judy - have a look at this site - picmonkeyIt's free to use and easy to understand and it's good for re-sizing images. Copy your original image and import your copied image to picmonkey, then click 're-size'. Try making the longest side 720 and it should be ok for the internet. The resulting image will be just a few hundred kb. NB - Never fiddle with your original image in case you lose it (ask me how I know!)

It depends on the size of the picture how much I charge. I've a lot with sheep in, you'll be pleased to hear! That one is only little, just over 6 inches square, and I've got it on my website at GB£150 I'll have to alter my website to add in the sizes (thank you for reminding me - yesterday I thought my head would explode with all the image resizing ) I'll head off with my ruler now!

Dealing with pictures always seems to take more time and effort than you think it will.

I've probably overpriced the paintings, by the way. I'm trying to build up a collection to exhibit and so far pricing them at just under £100 has meant they've sold really quickly! I put a few pounds on to slow folk down a bit. I know that sounds awful, but I'd rather sell less for more. I'm lucky in as much as I also paint and photograph and the sales of those keep my wee gallery afloat

I think your pricing is fine. If they are flying off the shelf they are priced to low. Have you seen Moy MacKay's work? link

These are lovely! A bit Moy Mackay - which is a great compliment! Don't be afraid to put your price on - it's easy to reduce it if necessary, but much more difficult to put prices up! I think your prices are fine by the way. Someone admired a nuno felted jacket I was wearing and asked if I'd make one for her. When I mentioned how many hours went into it she changed her mind!! I don't really want anyone else wearing my designs anyway - I'd rather keep them for myself!

Yes, Moy's work is certainly inspirational, although if you look at my paintings and photographs you'll see that I'm only following a style that I've acquired over the years. It just so happens that we seem to be inspired by the same things in the same areas!
I need to pop up to her gallery sometime, when I have time!
People generally have no idea how long work takes to do. I was commissioned to do a pet portrait last week and the guy genuinely thought that it would be done in a couple of days!
