Autumn is here and my last winter's slippers are worn out, so time for a new pair. I usually make seamless ones, but this time decided to use a Martha Stewart pattern, but make the felt. I made the soles together using a resist then cut them apart - hence two identical soles. The tops I made in the same manner. An old leather handbag was recycled to make outer soles and I also added an extra middle layer of 'failed felt project' to the soles for extra warmth. Then had fun embellishing them! www.flickr.com/photos/koffipot/9786055213/www.flickr.com/photos/koffipot/9785783791/

Very professional! The finishing is great. I need to make a new pair of slippers for winter. Wish the yurt was finished

When it is finished, are you going to put it away until Spring, or see how it stands up to a Montana winter?

Judith, I'm not sure what the plan is for the yurt. Dennis thinks we are keeping it up all winter. I am running short on wool for the roof so who knows? Ann - I'm sure I can come up with something!

The slippers are great Judith. Lovely colour and so much nicer than a bought pair.

Judith, Your slippers are really nice. Do wool slippers only last a year or is it the construction?

Billieanne - I suppose it depends on how much use they get and I wear mine all the time around the house during the winter. The soles are usually a bit thin by spring though the uppers are fine. That's why I've incorporated a leather sole in these. Time will tell, but it's nice to have a new pair each autumn.

Billieanne the other factor with slippers is the wool used. Fine wool wears out much faster then the courser wools.

Ann's right. I find Norwegian best for slippers, it felts well, is hardwearing.
