My longest week in history is finally over with. My jaw tooth is out and it was painless. Can you imagine? After all my obsessing over it. My drawing class was interesting. We did some exercises with pen and ink, pencil and charcoal. It was fast drawing from photos. You were asked to just catch the essence of the look. No details, drawing with our left hand, was not my favorite technique, but interesting; and then working with only shading and no outline. I really enjoyed it.
I told you this was my first experience of being chairman of a big art exhibit for out senior's art guild. I was really astounded by the wonderful quality of work that came in. These people are in their 60's 70's and 80's. Artists only get better with age. All my planning worked well. Our biggest problem was finding people who had enough strength to install all these paintings on hangers that were suspended from a rail along the ceiling and had very small screws to adjust the height while you slide the hanger up and down. I just could not physically do it and both my helpers had back and knee problems. Only one woman was able to to do this. She is one of the younger people in our guild. I am going to suggest that whoever tries this next year, hires some college students to do this installation.
The mural that I am painting for the Life House for Homeless Women, is all prepped and ready to paint now. I drew it on with watercolor pen, then filled in the shapes with Gesso. Now there will be a helper join me on Thursday to block in color and do the shading and highlights. I also had two collage classes to attend. But now, I am just relaxing and catching up with Facebook. Ahhhhh! what a week.
