Excellent! I've figured out how to post photos! The first photo is a sample I made to try to reproduce in felt some sea shells I found at a nearby beach. The 2nd photo is indeed a hot water bottle cover. It was fun to make such a childish design. I felted it all quite hard because I wanted to make it durable and I outlined the shapes with machine stitching to emphasize the shapes and add to its strength.

Congrats Judith! You posted your photos just fine. I like how the machine stitching emphasizes the relief more. The grays are beautiful. Did you use natural gray wools?

They both look great. It sounds like a great class. Limiting your choices and seeing what creative juices get stirred up is fun.

I found that limiting the colour pallette in this way completely freed up my imagination and time to focus on possible design ideas and techniques. I learnt how fibre migration works with different types of fibres and fabrics and that is knowledge that I can use effectively when working with colours.

Hi Ruth, I wanted to work in Merino for these projects and I don't have any natural grey. I used DHG "Cloud" which is the light grey of the hotwater bottle cover fabric. It's also the exterior colour of the textured vessel. The hotwater bottle cover design was mostly put together from my homemade prefelts that I thought might give the texture I was after.

I love all your monochrome works,Judith: they are impressively effective without colour! It must really have been a wonderful way to test techniques and try different wools as you say.

Oh Yes! It looks really good with the plant - a nice contrast to the colour and shape.
