Hello fellow felters, My name is Judith and I'm very pleased to have found this forum. I'm looking forward to reading your posts and I hope I will also have something to contribute. I have been learning how to felt for the past 5 years and have really enjoyed taking some online classes with international tutors. I mostly felt alone so I particularly enjoy the camaraderie of other class participants. We learn so much from each other. That's one reason why I think I will enjoy being a member here. I love how we can transform dry fibres with a little soapy water into anything our imagination can dream up! I enjoy making bags, fingerless mitts, wall art, 3-D sculptures and other items for the home like lamp shades, table mats and cushion covers. I mostly work in Merino with other fibres used for texture and embellishment. I have given a large percentage of my work away as gifts which gives me great pleasure.

Welcome to the felting Forum! I can't wait to see your felt projects, they seem very varied! Please, do share with us your experience on the different courses that you have attended: it's good to know about the best ones around! There are so many out there that sometimes it's hard to know which ones could be right for us.

Welcome Judith! Please feel free to look around as there is a lot of information here. We would love to see some of your work. There is information on posting photos in the FAQ section. And please join in on the discussions, it's always good to hear different/new ideas.

Thank you . I'm brand new to anything like this so it will probably take me some time to work it all out. I always take photos of my work and I'm happy to share them - it will just be a matter of figuring out the best way for me to do it!! I have had a look at the intstructions in the FAQ section and I don't think it's going to be straightforward for me. But I will get there, somehow!

Welcome Judith. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your work, when you've worked out how to get them up here. If you can't find a way from the FAQs, I'm sure Ruth will help.

Hi, I'm still learning how this forum works. Teri, I live in Katikati. Ruth - I'm not sure what sort of photos to post. Do they have to relate to a thread? Some of the the threads are years old; I don't know if that makes a difference. I have just thoroughly enjoyed participating in a 5 day Zoom class taught by Fiona Duthie which focused on making a textural vessel.

Can we see your "Fiona Duthie" vessel - sounds an interesting class

Judith, feel free to start a new post to add photos. You can put it in wet felting if you wanted to post your textural vessel.
The old threads can be added to, it will bring them to the top. Feel free to do this if you have something that relates. Otherwise, just start a new thread in whatever category seems to fit for you.

I do hope you haven't been affected by the awful floods affecting North Island at the moment. It must be devastating to be caught up in them. Do take care.
