I usually soak them for a couple of hours but I will have to try Ann's idea of stretching them while dry.

The pouch turned out great Caterina! I'm sure it will get a lot of use and being able to wear it two ways is a good idea Thank you, Lyn! Yes, I am already using it. :-)

Thanks for the tips on silk carrier rods, Ann and Ruth: I will try both, as I have a bagful of those to try! I love the fact that one is using a waste product, and that they come undyed. I got them for Christmas, along with some lovely dyed Teeswater locks, a small piece of washed undyed BFL fleece, and more wool: I can't wait to try it all, and I am developing ideas for the other part of the challenge..

It turned out great. It looks big enough to sneak other things in there too.

Your trees are very intriguing,Ann, and I can't wait to see what you will embroider next. I was very interested in your snowflakes too: I had some experience of metallic threads, they are not always easy to use, so I felt you when you say that you just were done with the second, coppery one! :-) it happened to me quite a lot with DMC gold and silver threads, they are dreadful, especially the old ones that they put out maybe 30 years ago. They improved somewhat afterwards, but still they are a lesson in patience.

It turned out great. It looks big enough to sneak other things in there too. Thanks, Ann! I keep the little cloth to clean glasses there, but my other pair of glasses is bigger than the one shown, so when I change between the two there is actually less free space in the pouch. So, I will probably not keep much else in it. I also would not want to scratch my glasses, they were quite expensive and I usually make them last as much as I can.

This is my entry to Jan's part of the challenge: a lime tree seen in four seasons.I could not post it on the website because my phone has not enough memory. www.dropbox.com/s/cib9yxv49ay2ypi/IMG_20230121_090400_482.jpg?dl=0Closer: www.dropbox.com/s/38wmos2pt2r4lfo/IMG_20230121_090400_499.jpg?dl=0I used dyed and undyed merino wool tops, undyed BFL tops, a few undyed eri silk wisps for the flowers hints on the right side, and upcycled string for the trunk and branches. www.dropbox.com/s/7fhizxd91d28q7z/IMG_20230121_090400_525.jpg?dl=0www.dropbox.com/s/xhwctzr7rfuor4z/IMG_20230121_090400_554.jpg?dl=0Lime trees can be found in quantity in some areas of my hometown in Italy, and I used to love passing those areas and inhaling the strong delicious smell during summer. The lime trees that are here in my current area do not smell that strongly, though. I wrote a poem about lime trees once: maybe it will help understand why I picked up that tree for my painting: So, that is what I am: Flower laden lime tree In unkempt rows heavy with warm Perfume, heady and desperate, None of those, light feathery Big greeen giants, with pale taste- -less flowers swaying in the gale.

What an interesting texture the string gives. It's very spring and your poem is beautiful.

What an interesting texture the string gives. It's very spring and your poem is beautiful. Thank you, Ruth. I like how the string gives texture to the felt, too! Also, it is not apparent from the photos, but the string is multicoloured, because it is recycled yarn, so it adds other colours to the painting: a bit of yellow and red on the left side and more green to the right side of the tree. I actually got some awards for my poems when I was younger, both in UK and in Italy, but it's been ages that I do not compete anymore.
