I have thought that when one dyes, the length of the color change for crochet items would need to be longer. The stitches normally use more yarn to make as knitting does not. Has anyone dyed for a crocheter? Has anyone looked into this process of thinking longer dying of colors to give the crocheter a longer color change? Just curious.

I have dyed lots of wool, fabric and threads but I don't dye much yarn. I don't use long lengths of yarn. For my threads, I usually end up cutting variegated threads in to pieces so the colors are separated. Otherwise, the colors are in blocks which I don't want.

Spinners certainly play with the length of the colour changes to get different effects when they knit or crochet or weave.

I don't understand it all but she does. are your board for dyers or spinners?

I suppose you could look at some self-striping yarn or other variegated yarn that's meant for crochet and just measure the changes. Sorry I am not more help
