I have crocheted then felted over styrofoam balls a few years ago. I found some metal bird feet so decided to do it again but this time used a much bigger ball. Now this can go south pretty quickly if you don’t watch it carefully during the felting process as the crochet needs to be larger than the ball so can get twisted before it shrinks around the ball possibly making it more oblong than round. Also, they float and if they do not get turned one side felts and the other side not as good. Here is the picture of the styrofoam balls that are felted. daisyhillstudio.art.blog/metamorphosis-at-work/I intend to of course make this a bird so have wings and tail that still need to be felted. I will update my site as I get more of it completed. Wish me luck🤞.
