Author Keri Smith of the book “Wreck This Journal”. She has several inspirational ways to approach art and seeing art in things around you. She has a series of @wreck This… Any other fans?

I hadn't even heard of her books. Sounds interesting.

I think her books even though they are not “art” books they off the artist a good chance to view from a different perspective of how to see around us.

I had a quick look at google and found the book you mention - not my cup of tea I'm afraid. I'm not a fan of journaling anyway, or "arty" sketchbooks. I prefer to make written notes (I can't draw) about ideas for projects, and then just get on with them. One of the reasons why I never took any of the Certificates of Excellence organised by the Association of Guilds of Weavers Spinners & Dyers in the UK is because we would be expected to create sketchbooks which were in themselves a work of art - it seemed such a waste of time to me. I have not had any training in Art since I was 11 (65 years ago!) so haven't worked through the various steps you would likely have been given when you were at school or college. If I had I might be more aware what such tools could do for me.

In one of her books she would have you draw with mud on a page another page water droplets. This is the type of things in one of her books. It’s not everybody’s cup of tea.

One of my favorite Youtubers, Moriah Elizabeth, did a series on her books that I enjoyed watching. She came out with her own prompt journal shortly after that, but I've always been a fan of Wreck This Journal! I think the prompts on there encourage people to be creative without worrying about the finished product.

I don’t draw much any more.

Looks interesting. It is true that I do not want to wreck a nice book. I do use sketchbooks. They don't feel like they should be art in themselves the same way.
