I have been working on a concept to framing my felting. I thought that if I turned over a stretched canvas (using the back side). I found some nice textural wall paper and thought I would apply it to the inside and over of the stretcher bars. Place my felted design inside then add a frame over that. Cover the front (now back) with brown paper, put a hanger on the stretcher bar. I don’t have a canvas to try out but intend to try it soon, I have the wall paper I want to use. I don’t necessarily want to put my designs under glass but I do want depth. I have tried shadow boxes but I think too much depth and ($$$$)😁. In addition lighter weight and professionally mor acceptable “if” done to perfection. Opinions are welcome or if you have tried, can I see pictures. TIA

This is a good idea. I personally would use hand painted paper but if you have nice wall paper, I'm sure it will work. It's just making sure that it looks good at the corners.
