Thank you Charlie. I really like stumpwork, which I got into after I had learned how to make needle (as opposed to bobbin) lace. A lot of traditional stumpwork uses needle lace stitches.

Ann - your stumpwork piece is wonderful! The ivy is so 'alive'.

Ann - your stumpwork piece is wonderful! The ivy is so 'alive'. Thanks Lyn, that's what I like about the modern stumpwork. I think it's the use of satin and long and short stitch, rather than the more coarse needle lace stitches, that we do these days, that leans more towards the realism that I prefer (as you may have noticed!)

Thank you for persevering. The flowers and leaves age lovely. Technology can be very frustrating at times. Thank you Ann. Yes I hate clever machines. The self service tills in our local Co-op almost always refuse to give me a receipt and I have to get a long-suffering assistant to make it perform. I have just had another go at posting a picture of my stumpwork Ivy on a Stone Wall. Hopefully it will get to Ruth so she can put it on for me here as well.
I am gong to try adding the picture here for you.
This is a lovely artwork, Ann. I love the ivy leaves in particular, they are very defined and realistic.

I forgot, how long does the challenge last? The third quarter challenge runs from 1st July to 30th September - a new challenge is set every 3 months. However, there is nothing wrong with submitting a photo at any time for any of the challenges The challenges are just to encourage us all to think of making/sampling something we might not ordinarily consider - and to have some fun in the process.
