In Jan's recent post More Signs of getting back to normal, in-person socials week 1 & 2 she showed us Ann's new apron with a fantastic (in both senses of the word). The design when properly looked at is anarchic. She also showed us the photo of Calamity Ware's label and url www.calamityware.com . I had already decided that I had to have one of those aprons and then I looked at the website and found that they have used the design on china - so that it looks like traditional Willow Pattern - until you get close to it. That made me think of how many friends I have who would love to have a mug in that design.
But on investigating further I found that the company only ships inside the USA and Canada. I contacted them to see if they had any outlets in the UK and this was their response: "Thanks so much for reaching out! Since we're just a small business of 5, our current assignments keep us very busy and we haven't had the capability to do wholesale for shops. We get a lot of requests, and hopefully some day we'll be able to expand beyond selling our products through our website. But as of right now, there aren't any places to buy the aprons in-person.
"To further complicate things, we used to ship internationally (beyond Canada), but due to changes in EU VAT taxes last year and ongoing shipping woes, we needed to discontinue our international shipping...." Such a shame, but I may be able to get my great nephew, who's a fire fighter in Canada, to help.
I passed on to Calamity Ware a link to Jan's post this was the response: "Thanks for sharing the blog! That was really nice, I'll pass it along to the team so they can check it out. ... [This is the bit you might find extra interesting] We're hoping to implement a 50% off shipping promotion in July. The technical side of getting it set up has been a little challenging, but if we can make it work, it would apply to orders going to Canada as well. With any luck, we'll have it available on July 1 or within a few days after July 1. Keep an eye out on our website..."
I know that several others were interested in acquiring the apron - hope this helps.
