Hello. I had a little bit of time and decided to experiment with making earrings by wetfelting. I did not know where to start, so it was all about finding out new things. I simply was not sure if I could make the wool fibers to hold the earring bit (whatever it's called, the metal part that goes into the ear lobe). So, I decided to needlefelt a bit around the metal part tiny holding ring before wetfelting everything. This seems to work very well, the wool seems well attached to the metal holder. It does not have to lift a lot of weight, to be honest, but I wanted it to be well attached. I tried using wool tops, but wasn't happy with the result, because it ended up thinner than I wanted. Carded wool slivers worked a lot better for what I had in mind and was quicker to felt in the shape that I wanted. It made a smoother more regular felt, also. Here are my final flower earrings, still wet but extremely light: merino wool and a tiny bit of recycled sari silk. www.dropbox.com/s/ilsipxhragl5pgw/img_20220618_180353.jpg?dl=0www.dropbox.com/s/5uw9f9jv1xxf2qz/img_20220618_180415.jpg?dl=0I found them extremely easy to make, and very quick, as I was hoping. I dipped them in hot water now and then, rubbed them energetically on bubblewrap, and between my fingertips. I did not need much more than substantial rubbing and maybe 6-7 dipping in hot water to achieve the firmness that I was looking for. Of course I could not roll them, but the needlefelting at the beginning helped. I rather think that a beginner in both needle and wet felting could make them. I think that I will make more when I will have some spare time, it was easy fun, and I will be summer ready with my new earrings!

What a great idea Caterina and a great result. Good for you. Thanks, Ann. I will experiment with other shapes, if I have time, but that three-petaled flower shape works quite well, I feel.
