Hello! Sorry, I can't seem to be able to post my photo on the website using the form, as apparently my phone has not enough memory (?). Anyway, maybe it's fine if I do it the old way? Here is my entry "Cherry tree bark", taking inspiration from, guess what, a cherry tree among the many that are all over the place where I live. www.dropbox.com/s/un8xfhxcvfhesn8/img_20220508_093353.jpg?dl=0Here is the photo that inspired me: www.dropbox.com/s/pqdtlv3jmuspbep/img_20220423_155638_822.jpg?dl=0I loved this challenge, as always, because it made me try out things that I maybe would not have, otherwise. This time, one of the new things that I tried was to use upcycled yarn underneath the ruby merino wool, so that it kind of gives some texture and also it shows a little bit, but it is basically hidden underneath. It has been interesting and I loved the final effect. I used dyed and a bit of undyed merino, natural white eri silk fiber, and undyed wool locks. I entertained the idea of stitching a bit, but I really like it as is, and I feel that stitches would not add much more but would make it "heavier". I would like to go on and make a few more of those tree barks that I photographed before going for the cherry tree bark for my entry. I think that it would be lovely to have a series of them to hang on my walls.

Beautiful bark! Both the photo and the felt. I look forward to seeing the rest of the series.

Cool, I have never seen cherry tree bark. You got a great likness. Thanks, Ann. It's actually an ornamental variety, so no big juicy cherries to be had in the summer, but lovely flowers with a delicate scent. My kids have become very good at spotting cherry trees with their distinctive bark pattern of lines and ruby colour: they have repeatedly attempted to eat the tiny (wormy) cherries from those trees! If my kids were cats, I guess they would seat underneath a cherry tree to wait for its cherries, like a cat waiting for a bird underneath a tree. I had to buy them the real deal from the greengrocer (at extorniate price) to get them to stop their stalking...uhm,maybe that had been the whole point: forcing me to buy the big juicy cherries of their dreams 🍒🤣 fiendish!

Love it! A beautiful piece of felt - and it's very clear how your photograph inspired you. I agree - it doesn't need stitching - it's just right as it is.

Your bark felt is lovely and I could immediately imagine that beautiful bark as soon as I saw your piece. I hope you do go on to make some other bark pieces and share them on the forum.

Thank you Ann. When Annie and I get together we bounce ideas off each other and usually they make us laugh.
