My old iron having just died, I have been trying to buy a new dry iron. It seems that they are not made any more - at least I haven't been able to find one. I had decided that I didn't want a steam iron, for two reasons: 1. They get clogged up and need descaling (or defrosting as it is called in my family) which doesn't always work very well; and 2. I don't like the holes in the soleplate - when you're trying to press something delicate even with a press cloth, you quite often get marks from the rim of the holes, and/or "bumps" where the holes were, with similar problems when trying to heat bond fabrics or Angelina fibres.
I have had to give up and buy a steam iron, even though I don't intend to use the steam. (I have found that a damp cloth and/or a water spray is just as good as it was before steam irons were invented.) So now I am trying to find a soleplate cover that hasn't got holes in it, which seems likely also to be impossible.
Does anyone know if there is an un-holey soleplate cover out there? I know that I could make my own out of the silicone covered oven protection/baking sheets, but I'd rather be felting.
Help!!

Finding a good iron is definitely difficult. Hope you find something that works.
