Hello.
I am mired in a bog of things to do in order to start selling my paintings, at the moment: I feel like I am moving in honey! Anyway, it gives me a strong motivation to escape dull delays through making some new stuff :-)
I made a painting titled "Refusal" that is quite dark.
I used bits of resist on the left side to have two "bridges" over the background. I think that I want to explore further this use of resist to build more dynamic shapes. So, this is just a starting point.
Here it is:

I also got inspired by the Quarter Challenge to reuse, recycle and get ideas from old samples. I really really enjoyed that, it got me out of my comfort zone and I like the resulting painting.
I called it "A day at the beach 3":

I used as background a big sample that I had made out of wet pre-felting core wool and didn't really like much. I also used strips and bits of other small prefelted samples that I had made in merino, and had not found a way to use yet.
I was itching to use a scarf bought in a charity shop, so that went in as well.

And bits of a project gone wrong, a very thick felt, (the poncho that I had chucked in the washing machine...) were useful to try small shapes with a more 3D effect.
I also loved the chance to use yarns that I get every week with my grocery shopping: the boxes of vegs and fruit are tied with recycled yarn, and one can give it back with the box to be reused again and again, but sometimes I keep it, hoping to find a way to use it for my projects.

I had to insist quite a bit to persuade the thicker felt to cooperate, even though it is quite hairy and I thought it would have been easy. Well, I kept at it, added some merino fibers over some of the more lively bits, and it finally understood its place.
Incredibly, it all mixed and blended very well, the colours and textures were as I wanted them to be, and I am eager to try more with this same combination of materials. Let's see what colours will be the yarn in our next grocery delivery! :-)
