About to embark on my next project…what is everyone working on at the moment - I’d love some inspiration!

It really depends what you like to do. Do you make 3D figures, 2D pictures, Bas Relief images, embellish wet felted pieces? There are so many things you can do with felting needles. What is your favourite animal? Perhaps a picture or "sculpture" of one or more of those? Or your favourite view turned into a picture? Or an image needled onto your totebag (Hessian totebags are great for this). As for me, I've several projects in hand (as usual), a "painting" of a horse on a Devon hillside, a couple of door stops, and a key/money dish for my husband - though the latter will be mainly wet felted. Ann So far I’ve made 3-d animal figures…a fox and a puffin. I love the idea of a doorstop…

My first doorstop was needed to stop our living room door banging against the adjoining bookcase, it also needed to be tall enough that we could move it quite easily if necessary (both my husband and I don't bend very well any more). So I made the body out of the sleeve of a woollen jumper which I had (purposely) shrunk in the washing machine and then attached a needle felted head and a carry handle to the top. It has no limbs or tail or whiskers, but it has a piece of lead in the bottom to keep it upright. It sits happily grinning beside the bookcase. So you see you can combine all sorts of things with needle felting. I will eventually do a post about my doorstops when I've got the 2nd & 3rd finished (I hope)

I have recently seen a blogger talking about projects including sculptural pieces with inclusions of rocks: I found it interesting as a concept. Part of the effect was achieved by needlefelting...although I wondered how you do avoid breaking needles.
Also, I really liked a workshop he attended to about bizzarre aliens made with a mix of wet and needle felting: they were funny and inspiring. About 50-70 cm tall, so they were actually pretty big.
Sorry,I can't seem to find the blog anymore.

Sorry to mention the ‘c’ word in August but if I was needle felting at the moment I’d be starting to think about Christmas decorations. I made some mince pies last year that I was happy with and other people seemed to like them too. They look great on a tree and make really nice thoughtful hand made gifts. There are lots of ideas on the internet like fairies and santas plus baubles that you can embellish with embroidery & beads.
Karen did a lovely post on here about wet felted pixie / fairy boots last year and several of us had a go - they are really cute. I’m sure you could needle felt some if you prefer that to wet felting. Or maybe now is a good time to branch out?

It's a thought, but I've got so many things on my "started but not finished" list since the start of the pandemic I daren't start any more. Must get on - so much to do - so little time (now). I knew I'd be kicking myself for all the time I wasted during the lockdowns when I just couldn't make myself keep up the momentum, and I am.

Hi everyone. I've been off grid for a while due to a family bereavement, but I was still working on some things over summer. I was asked by a friend to do something Scottish so, as I love thistles, I thought I'd try some wet felt/ needle felt pictures. This is my first attempt, which I thought was ok, but the thistles weren't distinct enough. www.dropbox.com/s/nfh3t4nn1iyk1em/20210922_110400.jpg?dl=0This was my second attempt which I am much happier with. www.dropbox.com/s/qe7z3dxc4u02hrk/20210917_123345.jpg?dl=0Sorry if the pictures aren't great. I find taking photos of them quite difficult. I agree that it probably is a good time to start thinking Christmas as coming up with ideas and creating them takes time.
