We've just had a new carpet laid in our bathroom - yes I know very 1970s but I couldn't convince my husband that vinyl flooring isn't slippery like lino used to be. Anyway, having remembered that hoovering is not recommended immediately after having the carpet laid, I was on my hands and knees with the carpet brush trying to remove the fluff and "Bingo" the idea hit me. I had been intending to make a door stop for the bath room and had in fact got as far as making the body from felted knitted fabric and started making the head of the cat to go on top of it from core wool. However I liked the idea of trying to make a door stop to match the colours of the bathroom and what better way of getting an exact match than using some of the floating fluff from the carpet? (It's just a pity that I didn't think of it before we put a lot of fluff and offcuts too small to use out for the dustman yesterday.) I can't make him all from carpet fluff as one of us would be bound to trip over him as he disappeared into the carpet. As he'll sit on the new stool we have in there when he's not holding open the door, he'll be called Albert; and if you don't get the connection, you're too young to remember Max Wall. He was a Music Hall comedian in the UK (possibly also in films in the US?) A master of funny walks - better even than Groucho Marks - and one of his skits had him crouching at a piano waving his hand under his rear end and saying "Where's the stoooool Albert". You can find him on Youtube. All of which is beside the point. I will try to remember to take photos as I go along to add to the Door Stops post I'm hoping to do in the not too distant future (if only to divert attention from the slow progress of my Glorious Devon post).
