Fantastic, Ruth! I totally agree with the other comments: it really seems an actual glasswork! It is the blueish background, maybe? Or the suggestion of the dark thread? The stylized flower design is original and very much Art Deco. Caterina

I want to say what a great idea the quarter challenges are. I will definitely be joining in. I was browsing through some of the previous challenges and was inspired by all the work your members have been doing. Well done , everyone.

Please see the blog post HERE for more details, but here's my entry for the second quarter challenge. I was inspired by a ceramic plate decorated by Clarice Cliff in 1929. Fabulous!

I do hope you join in with the challenges - there's no pressure to produce masterpieces - rather it's an opportunity to perhaps think about and try different things. Sort of a nudge out of your comfort zone. And you can use any fibre medium!

Hi everyone. I have been busy working on my entry for this challenge. I chose to make a 1920s flapper girl. So far my other dolls have been witches and wizards and mermaids so this was a new challenge for me. I have posted a picture on my Instagram page at thescarletthistle http://instagram.com/p/CQGRVtIHRjt I have called her Molly as she made me think of a gangster's moll. I think my armature is getting better and I was pretty happy with her face. I messed up a bit with her hands and in the end she ended up with long mittens rather than gloves. I also found her dress difficult. I had envisioned a flouncy flapper dress with fringes but couldn't work out best way to do this with felt. Her hat took a few tries. The first two I made shrank more than I'd expected. I really enjoyed this challenge and hope you like my little doll. I'm looking forward to the next challenge.

Especially the tiny hat:I wish I had a full sized similar one! I really like the fact that you throughly challenged yourself to make her: bravo! I can't wait to see your new dolls, and how this experience will inspire your next projects!

I do love this. It has a lovely Celtic feel to it.

Well done for rising to the challenge to make a different kind of doll from your usual ones!
She's beautiful. Although you didn't plan on making long gloves they look fab and go so well with her gorgeous hat and shoes. The dress is perfect and prettily done. Love her face - she looks so confident and so 1920's!

I saw her on Instagram and immediately thought of a flapper dress so she is just perfect for the 1920's. Great job!

Fabulous make on the flapper doll. She is perfect for the challenge. Maybe for hands when they are so small stitching the fingers with matching or invisible thread would work. small hands are very difficult to do.

I guess I should post a picture of my finished piece. You can see the posts on how it was made over on the Felting and Fiber Studio Blog.
