I have a 3 ft by 3 ft wet felted wall hanging..a beach scene. I have seen some pictures of people hanging them from driftwood. I just can’t figure out the best way to connect the driftwood.
I was thinking of making felted wool loops around the top and then putting the driftwood through it but I don’t think I will be able to hang it even. So, I then thought of evenly spaced fishing wire but I can’t figure out how to attach the fishing wire to the felt.
I would appreciate any suggestions...TIA.

Here's one idea: Get a piece of wood dowel slightly shorter than the width of your felt hanging - as small a diameter as you think will support the weight of the felt - then stitch the dowel to the back of the felt about 2cm from the top.
Use a fine thread and just pick up the felt through the back - don't go right through to the front of the felt.
Hand stitch as though you are couching the dowel to the felt - I hope that makes sense.
You can then attach the fishing wire to the dowel. By doing this there will be no stress points - the stress is evened out along the length of the dowel.

I did something similar with my biggest wall hanging, except that I allowed the dowel to protrude either side of the hanging and attached white cord to this. It would have been too heavy for fishing line so I made the cord more of a feature. I think the hanging was about 4ft x 2ft. It was in the Jurassic Coast section of our Guild's "Dorset" Exhibition at the Dorset Arts and Crafts Association annual exhibition some years ago. It showed a whole section of cliffs, from skyline to sea and included crushed velvet sea and waves which added considerably to the weight of the felt and beading. If you can't hide it, flaunt it!

You can do the same as Lyn's suggestion with a flat piece of wood with holes drilled into it. Or recently, a friend of mine suggested a flat piece of acrylic for the same purpose. It is very light weight but gives enough support to hold the top edge evenly.

I've used the industrial strength 2-inch wide velcro. YOu can make a piece of wood with the holes and stick the velcro hooks to it. Then press the wall hanging to it. It gives a nice stong even hold. If you are worried about the back of the piece you can sew on a piece of fussy cloth onto the back.

If you are worried about the back of the piece you can sew on a piece of fussy cloth onto the back. Do make sure that the glue on the back is really strong or maybe use some staples to make sure. I used stick on velcro to mount a felt picture inside a glassed in frame only to find that the glue softened in the heat (a couple of summers ago) and everything started to go south. As it was hung in a juried exhibition I was not best pleased! Ann

Oh no, that would be terrible. I use the stuff they sell in the reno store. The strongest velcro makes. It comes in different strengths I haven't had anything happen to it.....yet. but yes if you can staple it, you might as well. they picture it holding up shovels and the like. people would be used if all the tools fell to the garage or shop floor. It gets really hot and humid here in the summer

I've made a few wall hangings lately. I like using Jute. I make long loops of the jute and then bury the tied ends of the loops into the backing. This is done in the layout stage.

Do you find that the ends of the jute cause distortion with shrinkage of the felt?
