Wow, these are fantastic. What are you using to create your lines? I had to look up what a brazing rod was. Do you connect the brazing rod into the rock by drilling a hole and then gluing it in place?

Thank you! They certainly came from “nowhere” and took me by surprise when I made them. The “bodies” are needle felted on the rod like you would the body of a gnome, just wound tight and needled tight with core wool. I then sculpted the shape and added color wool top coat . The “lines were very fine drafts of silk or fine wool. Using a fine needle you can pull and stab it into place, tedious, but needful for the symbolism. Their wraps or coats were actually wet felted separately, then needled to the body tightly, and the Butterfly Maiden was almost a fluke. I had made a Monarch pattern with a white fine micron backing and wet felted it. The white had worked it’s way through too much, but in reverse it looked more like an emerging butterfly when applied like she wears it. Then I added the embellishments of old pawn jewelry and tiny turquoise and coral strand held on by fine wool pulled across the threads and needled into the body. I left a few inches of rod and drilled some feather rock I had left over from an aquarium set up. They make an interesting base and are quite sturdy. I haven’t glued them because I have an alternative idea to make a mirrored display box for them to be hung on the wall. Clear glass in front and mirrors in the back so that the whole piece could be seen but protected....perhaps lighted from the top.

Wonderful maidens! I like the idea of displaying them in a mirrored box.
