Oops. I tried to fill in the questionnaire but it needs another box as I can't fill in 2 at once. I sometimes sit and sometimes stand when rolling - depends on how I feel!

What do you do? Just curious! I use table leg risers to increase the height of my work table and stand all the way through a wet felted project. The only time I sit to work is when I’m needle felting or stitching into a piece....even then I have been known to use my sewing machine while standing! I was taught by the wonderful feltmaker Annemie Koenen to roll away from the body with palms facing upwards and roll back towards the body with palms facing down. Ive done it ever since and it helps to avoid tension in the shoulders.

I stand. Actually I stand mostly in wet felting, but sit if I need to needle felt a bit or similar fiddly parts. The same as Karen.

Mostly I stand and use my dryer. You can't do it all in the dryer but it does help with the rolling. I have an antifatigue mat to stand on. It helps with the concrete floor in my studio

Almost always stand for all of wet felting. I have an old draftsman’s / architect’s desk which tilts slightly & is a perfect standing height.

Yes, I have a raised table as well. I do have a tall chair but don't find I use it much. Mostly my granddaughter or the cat use it.

Rubbing

I will rub a piece of artwork rather than roll it if I want minimal distortion.
However, I find that rolling is the only way to get firm felt (unless my rubbing technique is rubbish?)

I rub against a "turbo" felt board that is like stair tread. I may roll the felt on itself over the board but I don't roll up with bubble wrap or mat and roll 50-100 times etc. I may also throw the felt to full depending on what I make.

I have some foot issues so while I stand to do layout and much of everything and have the table leg risers, I usually sit down to roll. The most comfortable standing height for me is as high as the risers will go and I once pushed the table off the risers while standing and rolling so.... I find that sitting and rolling keeps me quite comfy while I work.

I've had times when I've been unable to stand for too long, and sitting down to roll was the answer. It's not so easy to do as when standing, especially when flipping the felt over, but it works.

When I teach people usually end up sitting for part of the rolling. We usually have folding tables set up and they are too short to be comfortable for standing and rolling.
