I have finally remembered why I joined the forum a week or so ago - I wanted to ask about using a Steamer. I have purchased a hand held steamer for millinery and cleaning purposes and wondered if it could be of any use when making felt. Does anyone have any experience of this please?

It would be very handy to warm up a piece of felt. During the rubbing/rolling process the felt goes cold - warming it up makes the felting easier.
If I'm working on a small piece I fold it to fit into the microwave for 15-30 seconds, but that's not possible with a large piece.
Re-wetting a large piece with warm soapy water then mopping up the excess works, but it would be easier and quicker with a steamer.

I don't have a steamer so I haven't tried using one. It could work for helping to stretch a certain area of the felt.

Yes, keeping felt warm or warming part of a piece. Once you are doing shaping say on a hat block, you don't want to soak it again or take it off and put it in the microwave. Careful not to burn your self.

Forgetting what you came here for and getting distracted by all the info....well THAT sounds familiar....
