The photos are displaying - yay! The felt is far too pretty to be ignored.
As suggested above, either use it as a base for a needle felted piece of art, or treat it as a piece of fabric and sew it into items such as cushion covers, bag/purse etc.

Those links work Caryn! I keep a box of pieces of felt that are off cuts or haven't worked out. Then when I need a piece of felt for a project, I take a look in my box and find what works best. You can make all kinds of things out of felt such as book covers, pillows, cut up into pieces and add into a new felt piece for differential shrinkage and all the other suggestions above. Have fun! I moved your post here so it would get more replies instead of being in the FAQ section.

Gosh I feel silly, but I don't even know if there is a way to just reply to the comments! So I'll create a post to thank you both! It's hard not to complete a project to your dreams, but I agree... using it for something else in the future seems to be the best idea... even though I haven't learned yet about how to put pieces into other pieces! But I'll do that... since I too, couldn't think of making a white bag! It is all real wool and silk, but I think I'm moving on and putting it away! Thank you for processing this with me! Next post, I'll post a success (I have truly had many... this is the only one that didn't work out)! Thanks for caring, everyone!

I forgot to ask. Why are you putting the silk in if you are covering both sides with wool?

Thanks for bearing with me and my numerous failures! I'll move on now, put my "fabric" away so I'm not frustrated, and know that it will be useful as I navigate around this new passionate world We Create! Thanks again! I'll need to figure out where to share me pieces that I love: Perhaps a new thread?? I couldn't see a show and tell part of all of this. But thanks for your kind patience all! Caryn

Yes, just start a new thread under the category that seems to make the most sense.

I forgot to ask. Why are you putting the silk in if you are covering both sides with wool? I've done the 'sandwich' thing Ann - it makes a strong but fine felt that drapes well.

When you're signed in to the forum and reading a thread, if you scroll to the last comment you'll see a 'reply' box at the bottom of the page. On the left is 'quick reply' and on the right is 'reply'. If you click on 'reply' you will be able to add links etc.

Thanks everyone for your comments! I followed a tutorial and it said that the best way to get a good drape was to sandwich your silk in between two sides of wool/felt. I don't think I'll ever do that again, unless someone can tell me why! OK, I think I understand... If I have a question, comment, share, I just start a new thread!? And will those threads be cleaned out so that I'm not cluttering the forum site? Thanks for the nice comments, but my scarf scene has a long way to go! But oh my, I'll send pics as soon as I'm done with my daughter in law's baby mobile, with all 4 of the family golden retriever dolls on it and colorful bones and balls! I think it's going to be awesome! And my wall hangings are coming along really well! I'll send pics as well! I just want to feel the confidence I feel in the great people in this forum someday! Caryn

Just start a new thread anytime. We don't delete threads unless they are inappropriate. New felt makers can learn from others questions so we leave posts/threads up so others can learn from your question.

I usually only sandwich fibre in the middle when I want to add strength. I usually use cheesecloth or cotton gauze. No point in hiding silk. I like to show off the silk.

Hello Caryn,
I love your piece and all the possibilities it could become as suggested by our fellow felters. It looks like a beautiful piece of suede from the photo. I would use it as a decorative homeware piece for people to snuggle on the sofa on a cold day - a lovely piece of practical art.
