Here we have lots of closures. I am off work for 3 weeks at this point. We are still healthy at my house and are lucky to have a farm so we can get out and about without having to go anywhere I have been cooking, felting, stitching and spinning. If It goes on long enough I might have to do some housework.
Are you still at work? Are you under lock down? self Isolation?

I am still at the store but I have sold it. Closing is on Thursday. This will be the last day that the store is open. My husband is staying home due to his health history. I will be home after Thursday. Ann, you now have time to work on your online class

Hi everyone EPH & I have already been in lockdown for a week ahead of our government guidelines - we are healthy, but both of us are vulnerable in terms of age & medical history AND have a medically compromised, with razor sharp mind, partially sighted and very soon to be 88 mum to look after. We have stopped the nurses going in, so as of yesterday my daily regime will be a 30 min drive over to give mum her 2 insulin injections, then 30 mins back. Fortunately she now has them early morning only - a change from the last 20 years when she had them twice a day....so a silver lining. It also means I actually get out of the house & mum has social contact. 12 plus weeks isolation away from an active friendship circle will be difficult. Fortunately i live in a small very rural village so I can walk the dog occasionally to breath some fresh air. It does mean as the weather is now much improved I’ll have no excuse to tackle my once beautiful, 4 year overgrown garden!!!
Very sadly for me a Felting workshop I’ve waited a year to attend didn't happen, so I’ll have to even wait longer & a workshop (by one of our members - Karen Lane) I helped organise for our local textile group and looking forward to will also be off the calendar.
My heart goes out to everyone - it will have a 'mega' effect on families, also in terms of job safety & financial security (already 2 of our children are job affected, we have another plus his wife and another's partner in the thick of the medical teams, & a daughter-in-law in the heart of the reporting world).
Stay safe & healthy everyone....let's keep in touch to support each other Antje 🙂

We have been out a few times stocking up except the toilet paper people are hoarding. Fortunately, we had a decent supply. We made out last trip out today. From now on it’s online shopping, delivery and pickup. I’ve been very stressed about since I’m in a high risk group health wise. We have an online community here and many have offered to help us seniors. We weren’t able to travel for our granddaughters fifth birthday, but fortunately there’s video chatting. We will all get thru this.
Our schools, restaurants , libraries, bookstores are all closed. We’ve heard a shelter in place may come soon.
I hope everyone is prepared and stays well and safe! Also, stay positive!

Ruth, I will have to figure out how to rig the camera for pictures of my hands. I have it all written it's the picture taking that is slowing me down. My husband is still at work. He works in a nursing home, so they all go through a health check and temperature taking when they go in. They are very short on hand sanitizer and there is none to be found. Hopefully, the suppliers will get supplies soon. My Son in law is a trucker and they are still rolling across the border. They don't get out of their trucks if they can help it. Today I am working on flowers for my blog post.

I realise I’ve just posted in the wrong bit of the forum (daily dose) but anyway, everything is closing down here. it feels like a science fiction movie. I’m really worried about my parents (in their 80s and 250 miles away). We closed our exhibition early today. My young adult children are in London, they were planning to visit this weekend (UK Mother’s Day) and have decided to come anyway knowing it’s possible they won’t be able to go back if travel restrictions are put in place. Both are already working from home. My husband and the cats will stay in London.
Difficult times. Best wishes to everyone.

Hi everyone! As Lindsay and Antje said everything is closing here in UK. People are very reasonable and close/cancel whatever is possible even without strict directions from the government. The most of art/craft events were called off. Just today I received a cancellation letter from Staithes Art Festival which was planned for September! Quite far ahead but they think that even if the medical situation improves to the date the economical impact will stay. I'm afraid they are very right. On a brighter side now I will have time to do more gardening! In this time of year it's very much needed and rather enjoyable I will keep felting again having some extra time for more experimental works which is good! We both (myself and my husband) are staying at home him working online but will keep going out for some walks at green places we have plenty around. As I know the most of parks and gardens are still open for people. Take care everyone! Stay well and safe! Love, Galina

Stay safe everyone! It's great that we still have online outlets to communicate with each other.
Ann, do you have a tripod? That's the easiest way to get photos or videos of yourself/hands.

Many people with grandchildren are staying away from family, the mantra “don’t kill grandma” comes to mind. It’s hard, but for the best. We don’t have any choice our sons and their families are 1000 and 2000 miles away. Thank goodness for video chatting. Stay well!

I think my son has one Ruth. I will have to learn how to use the timer. the first step is to sort out the studio. I think I will lower my table to normal hight or find another table to use. My reg table is higher so I can stand and work easily.
Pretty much everything here is shut down. All the fibre events through July have cancelled. We will have to see about the others. My Guild one isn't until November, so I am hopeful. We seem to be containing it somewhat here in Canada. We have 3 big clusters in our 3 largest cities and not too much outside them. Now we wait and see. Time for fibre therapy and streaming some tv.

Ann, sometimes I am able to use one hand in the photo and take the photo with the other hand. But using the timer is the best bet probably. Using a lower table is probably a good idea for the photo shoot.

It’s only just started in our state. Today is the first lockdown of coffee shops, restaurants, pubs etc. our schools are open for a few more days then it’s school holidays. My son is homeschooled. I’m fine with staying home because I do that, it’s natural for me because I felt daily. I’m only upset about the food hoarding, everything’s gone at the supermarket. No toilet paper for weeks. I live near an outdoor food market and it’s staying open as usual. So the food that counts is plentiful, but increases in price daily. I also do sport, dragon boating and I’m really into it so much that I represent my state in the national competition. My son represents Australia in international competition, but it closed down last Tuesday. So I’m a bit lost as I trained 5 nights for 2/3 hours and 4 hrs on Sundays. We were working towards our national competition at Easter but now cancelled. I’m a bit twitchy but can do most exercise at home. My only gripe is I turn 60 in May so no sunrise at Uluru for my big day just staying home as indigenous areas are closed off to non locals last week, which I’m all for actually, They don’t have the health care that’s offered in the city. Typical of Australian government. That of course leaves more hours for felting. But my stash is getting a bit low so I hope the post office stays open.

I think our government is getting ahead of what’s going in in rest of the world. It’s only started in Australia. 500+ cases. I keep felting and walking my dogs 3 and I’m felting dog coats to get ahead of winter orders. We’re going into winter so we’ve got flu season too. But as I’m an introvert I’m happy at home. I keep sending my 16 yo out to shop and make him shower immediately. I did stock up on Vitamin C before it sold out. I’m hoping all people stay home and find a hobby. Blessings to all peoples health. On an exciting note I did a felt workshop with Uk Chris Lines 2 weekends ago now she’s leaving early to get back to Isle of Skye before Qantas stoops international flights.

Hi everyone, Here we are a year on and things do seem to be improving slowly. My husband and I've had our first jabs and here in the UK our infection numbers are beginning to come down again after the spike caused by Christmas gets-together and winter weather (and the selfish idiots who just have to party when they want to and blow the rest of us). Our lockdown is just beginning to be eased - we are now allowed to meet one person outside for more than just exercise and next month (if things continue to go well) we might even be able to get to the pub - that was our usual exercise walk, 1 and a bit miles up hill there and 1 and a bit miles home (with half a pint between - well you do need some incentive). I joined the Forum in April last year (and it has helped to keep me sort of sane), so after this thread was started and reading back through it is interesting to see what was going on in other countries. I hope all is still going well for everyone. Ann
