Could anyone direct me towards posts/discussions on finishing of wall hangings, please? How to stretch felted piece, attach some lining and so on? I'm sure there were talks on the subject, just can't find them. Not good with searching apparently...

Eventually I've finished the pieces I was asking an advice! Thank you all and Ruth especially for a very comprehensive post on various ways of finishing textile items. I've made two 3-D pieces for an upcoming exhibition Film and Fabric in York City Screen cinema. The off-white piece could be hanged and could be displayed as a free standing sculpture. I personally prefer it as a sculpture but it will hang for a while!

Very pretty pieces! Yes, the white one does look good sitting on a surface - you named the white one 'the reef' - have you named the blue one something to do with waves?

"Titanic" ! The title of the exhibition is "Film and Fabric" so the pieces should be connected in some way or inspired by the films. I was struggling to find a film for a white piece but it was simple for a blue one

There's a film on 'Netflix' called 'Chasing Coral' - it documents the disappearance of coral reefs. As your coral is white you might say it's the ghost of the disappearing reef?

The interesting point is that some inspiration came from the textile work of this artist Vanessa Barragao and her early works were in pale colours as to attract attention to fading and disappearing coral reefs! Interesting association!

Gorgeous, Galina. I love them. So, how did you decide to finish them for hanging?
