Something from NothingI have a lot of firm pre-felt stashed away in my scraps box of 'it-may-come-in-useful-one-day' so I took out 3 bits in colours I like when they're put together. My plan was to made a tear-drop pendant, so I cut out a paper pattern in 3 different sizes. I pinned the largest pattern piece to the blue pre-felt then needle-felted black, 2ply, 100% wool yarn around the edge before cutting it out. I repeated the process with the other two pieces of pre-felt. Then I 'tacked' the 3 pieces together with a felting needle - just enough to keep them in place. I wet felted the pendant by gently rubbing it, through net, until it was firm, then when it was dry I added some white stitches. I covered the back with a piece of thick cotton fabric (using 'Bondaweb') then stitched the pendant to a choker (I found it in my 'may-come-in-useful-one-day' beading box). Annie says it looks like a 'colourful avocado' - so much for my teardrop then!

That's not fair. You didn't show the finished front. I suppose it is a little avocado like. It is a little more egg the teardrop. did it shrink much?

I had a heck of job to get the photos onto the post today Ann - perhaps they are not all displaying to you? There is a photo of the finished front at the end of the post - at least there is on my pc.
No it didn't shrink much at all - you can see slight movement of the black yarn. It was firm at the end of felting but after adding the backing it's solid.
There should be a collage of 4 photos, then a collage of two photos, then a single photo of the finished pendant on its choker wire.

The last photo isn't loading for me either. Not sure why. Nice color combo.

I can’t see the final pic either (just a tiny blank square) but judging by the progress shots, I really like it!

Looks great thus far Lyn, but we've all been left hanging to see the final result.

Love it, the addition of the white dots really makes it.

Love it, the addition of the white dots really makes it. Ta-Dah! Finally got the photo to show then? The white dots are tiny stitches of white perle embroidery thread - caused a bit of eye-strain but worth it.

Yes, it’s beautiful and sort of surreal.

Lovely. I think it looks great. It’s interesting how needle felting the black outlines onto prefelt has helped them stay clear and straight (as opposed to wobbly) when felted. Very nice. Will you wear it?

Will you wear it? Thank you Lindsay - Everything stayed pretty much the same pre and post felting because the pre-felt was quite firm. No, I won't wear it - it doesn't suit me.

Great to see the finished piece which is striking in it's colour & design & softened with the white stitching.
