I wasn't sure where to post this because it's also really a tutorial, but here goes.
A woman I met at a workshop earlier this year recommended crowsnest.ru for patterns, kits and lessons. When I had time to have a look I saw lots of interesting techniques in the lessons and then I found this lightweight jacket:
and thought it would be perfect for my granddaughter. I bought the kit, in English and very clear and this is the final outcome:
Must confess this is the second attempt , but I did learn from the first failed attempt and the only thing I would change is the ribbon; I think it is too heavy for the jacket and would prefer a button at the top.

Wow Pamster - it's beautiful! Very feminine and it looks so snuggly. How long did it take you to make?

It turned out really nice. I am sure she will love it. Maybe a frog closure would work instead of a ribbon or button. The top wouldn't have to overlap then.

That's really cute. I love the overall squiggly design. Is this the first time you have made a garment (besides the practice run)? You did a wonderful job.

I'm not strong enough to work like that for more than two or three hours at a time so it was on my dining table for 5 days and I would have worked on it at least once, sometimes twice, each day. Lucky I love my granddaughter

Thanks Ruth, yes there are some lovely designs on Lubov's site. I was lucky enough to attend one of Fiona Duthie's workshops when she was here in Australia earlier this year and made a vest, so this is my second attempt at a garment.

Lucky I love my granddaughter As I age I appreciate the stamina and strength I once had, so spreading the work over 5 days on the dining table sounds sensible to me! Hard work but the reward is the beautiful jacket and a smile on your grand-daughter's face.

Pamster your jacket is lovely I’m sure your granddaughter will be delighted with it. Thank you for passing on the tutorial. Like you, my stamina & body parts are not what they used to be, so anything that reduces/helps my efforts so much the better.

Pamster, the jacket is lovely. I’m sure your granddaughter will love it. Very feminine. I have a pattern for a vest I bought from crows nest. Never got to use it.

Your jacket is wonderful! I too like the squiggly design and would like to give that a try. I've bought patterns and kits from Crows Nest. They're really nice to do business with.

Pamster, for your second jacket, what type/brand of yarn did you use for your squiggles? Thanks!

Pamster, for your second jacket, what type/brand of yarn did you use for your squiggles? Thanks! The yarn came in the kit from crowsnest, there was enough left over from the first attempt. It is 67% acrylic, 11% polyester, 9% wool, 8% mohair and 5% sequins according to the kit. There was no brand on the ball of yarn.
