Hi, I am trying to needle felt some landscape pictures for the first time but I'm finding that the holes are very visible. I'm not sure what size the needle is - I bought a batch and it is the finest of them. I've seen so many needle felted landscapes that have a nice smooth finish - how do I achieve this? Am I just not poking enough? Even when I lightly rub the wool, the holes are still visible. I'm not sure how to attach a photo which I have saved on my laptop. Any help appreciated!

I'm no expert on needle felting although I do use it time to time to embellish my wet felting. Have you tried wet felting your needle felt when you've finished it? Some felters do that to minimise the holes. I found a Youtube video that might help - please click on the link below. link to video how to get rid of needle marks

Andrea, to post a photo, you need to have it uploaded on to the web somewhere else such as a photo storage site such as Dropbox or on social media such as Facebook or Instagram. There is more info on posting photos in the FAQ section at the top of the forum.
I would recommend a light wet felting of the surface to get rid of needle holes. You can do this several times if need be. As in, needle felt, then wet felt lightly and let dry. Then needle felt more and repeat as necessary.

I usually just lightly rub the wool with my finger. I also find that if you leave it a couple of days they seem to diminish. Also try rolling it up a couple of times. That often helps the fibers move around a little and it seems to help.

Andrea. All of the above. It’s hard to make mistake with felting.
