https://www.instagram.com/p/BveHCoCFWdH I’m working towards a group exhibition entitled ‘Alchemy’. I’ve focussed on the classical elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water and have made different size & shaped vase covers for each. This is Earth, nuno felted with 10 recycled scarves - mostly silk but the orange one is woven wool / mohair and the dark brown near the top is velvet devore.

It definitely gives the feel of layers or strata of earth. The mix of colors is wonderful.

Great picture and the colours and textures are perfect for earth. What other mediums are in the exhibit?

Great picture and the colours and textures are perfect for earth. What other mediums are in the exhibit? Thanks Ann. It’s a vase. The exhibition is with my Made in Whitstable group so there are around 17 artists in the exhibition with work including paintings (the majority), drawings, ceramics, fused glass (including jewellery) and textiles. I will post some photos when the exhibition is up and running in a couple of weeks. In the meantime the group has a Facebook page if you would like to see work from previous exhibitions. We haven’t previously had to have a theme so it will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with.

It shows all the texture really well and the subtle colour changes. It's hard to get good pictures of felt.

Your vase reminds me of a drilled core sample showing all the layers with the vegetation layer on top....so definitely 'earth'. Very effective. What size is your vase?

Thank you, Antje, vegetation / soil / rock layers were the inspiration so I’m pleased this has come across. Size is approx 23 cm high, 21 cm across (diameter).
