My daily dose for yesterday was driving through an unexpected snow storm to a nearby town for a Spin in. This was their 20th annual spin in. There were vendors and lots of different spinning wheels and spindles. I taught an impromptu how to make yarn on a spindle class to a group of visiting 4H'ers. They all got to try and had a small piece of yarn for their project books. I got some fiber that I have yet to take pictures of. I will show you in my next blog post probably.

Apologies for ignorance but is 4H a school year? You know when you buy something while telling yourself “I really shouldn’t buy this as I’ve no idea what I’m ever going to use it for”. Today I used some peach coloured lingerie lace that fell squarely into that category - bought an old reel in a second hand shop and now it’s decorating the outside of a felt shell. 4H is a club that Farm kids join, a youth leadership organisation. . Home, head , heart and health, I think it is. They do animal raising and cooking and knitting and other things. They are organised in clubs. This was the local knitting club.
I love when you are glad you bought something that you never thought you would use. It is pretty. Do show us how it turns out.

The 4H group sounds great - what ages are the kids.
I went trawlling some charity (thrift) shops the other day.....no, I don't NEED anything....I’m even struggling for space....but a few things just wouldn't let go of my hands! So I came home with some real stone beads, wire tube mesh (50cm each of 3 colours), a full roll of fine jewellery wire (it had seriously unravelled - so they were wanting shot of it), another unused roll of bright aqua jewellery wire and some unused wool. I even found the jewellery items in different stores....so of course I read that as....I’m meant to have it!
I'll try to post a photo sometime....I’m sure you would have sympathised with the stickiness of the items!

Love these replies. There’s a real ‘I mustn’t’ / ‘I have to’ wrestle but funny how the ‘I have to’ almost always wins. And then there are these guys saying things like ‘one in, one out” and you find yourself thinking ‘yeah, you have no idea”.

Ruth - you made me giggle....I now have a very definite image of all of us with things stuck to us back and front (like sticky buds when out walking), all trying to work out where we will 'hide' our new illicit goodies, whilst you have your hands on hips (school marm fashion) tutting at us!
Lindsay - I keep trying the one in one out....it's like a new year’s resolution....it starts off well!
I'm so glad I can share with understanding fellow squirrels.

This is how the lingerie lace was included. I put a small strip of resist under the back edge of some of the lace strips so they would stand off the surface. |

We are pack rats. we have a farms worth of interesting and might come in useful in several size categories. I have been trying to be more ruthless with stuff that just needs to go in the garbage. That lasts until I want something I threw out or gave away. This week I have given away a bag of costume jewelry I will never use. I went through it took our 3 pieces and the rest is going to two ladies at the guild.
