Your ornaments are beautiful. It’s hard to believe none of them sold. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell what sells and what doesn’t. The weather didn’t help I’m sure. It’s good you can find them homes and be giving at the same time.

So sorry to hear about the wind making the day hard, especially for the glass person. I have to agree with Ruth Church and Charity sales only ever seem to get other members there to buy and they don't want to buy much. It sad when so much work goes into making things. Our local church switch to doing a garage/rummage sale in the summer. It is a real going concern.

The sale does sound very disappointing. It’s tough when you’ve spent a long time making things and then have to stand there for hours watching nothing happen and thinking about all the things you could be making! I’m sure your lovely handmade items will be much appreciated eventually, when they find their people.

How was it Lindsay? How's your bank balance? It was great! For shopping I’d decided to focus on things I can’t easily get (or where postage makes them expensive) so hand dyed wool, locks and silk hankies plus lots of beads. I do quite a lot of beading and find the good bricks and mortar beading supplies shops are few and far between in the UK. Whenever I go to the USA I always head for the wonderful bead stores. It’s nice to be able to see the beads, check the quality and put colours together so I enjoyed playing with those. Outside of the shopping, there was an extremely powerful exhibition “the Dementia Darnings” by Jenni Dutton. A series of the most exquisite huge images created by threading yarn through netting (lots of photos on the internet) depicting the artist’s mother. We couldn’t actually spend too long looking at them as they were so overwhelmingly moving that I found it difficult not to cry. As this trip was my mother’s Christmas present I thought that might not be the best outcome but my goodness, if you get a chance to see them and have a strong constitution (or a good supply of tissues) then do!

I've seen photos of the display you describe - a box of tissues is essential - but brilliant work indeed.
Glad you enjoyed the shopping. Online shopping for beads and fabric etc cannot compare to bricks and mortar shops so yes, shows like this are great.

A couple of snaps of my fibre purchases - I also got some more dyed silk hankies but must have left them at home. I think you’d have to describe my preferred colour palette as ‘sludgy’ (slightly more pink / purple & less brown than the photo but you get the idea). www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/47744766But I did also have an uncharacteristic venture into the world of bling www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/47744768Angelina fibre and film plus rainbow locks.

Looks like a good haul Lindsay! Can't wait to see them in use I did use some of the green locks in the air plant hanging I made yesterday. I found some cute pink air plants in a garden centre last week. I’m focusing this week on making things for the gallery where my studio is: they’re turning the gallery (which is also the cafe) into a Christmas Emporium so I’m hoping to sell some small / medium size things (rather than large pictures). I’m wondering if I’ve made this one too similar to the plant’s colours so it’s rather camouflaged. I took these in artificial light when the felt was very wet so the end piece will be lighter but see what you think? www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/47749852www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/47749850I do have one green plant which I could use instead www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/47749848

I like the pink plant in the felt - the colours go so well together.

I see what you mean about the contrast of colors. The green plant definitely has a greater contrast with the felt and "pops" more. So use the green plant if you want greater contrast. Either plant works with the colors.

I think colors work. Green pops more because it’s bright. What a great idea to use the air plants in the Felt. I’ve never seen them here in the Midwest, but then I’m not frequenting floral shops that often. I’ll have to have a look now.

Thanks Marilyn as with lots of things, it came out of a failed experiment which left me with a nice piece of felt with a slit & pocket. Was trying to work out what on earth I could do with it when the air plant idea struck me. I’ve rarely seen the plants in shops but you can get them fairly easily online.
