Great job, Lindsay! Will you continue to offer different workshops?

Thank you Marilyn. I am doing the same workshop again in Feb. I don’t know how many people I’d get for anything more advanced but am mulling it over. I might do one on felting with a resist. Probably I’ll wait till I’ve done a few flat felting ones and hope to build up some people who’ve got the basic techniques and are interested in taking it further.

The class looks very good. Everyone busy working. Maybe take some prefelt for them to use instead of them making it? You could show them how at the end of class if they finish in time. For the sample maybe supply a template for them so they know how big to make it. There is often someone who wants to do something different. As long as it's not way off what we are doing I let them go. The last birdhouse class I did someone wanted to make a bowl. That wasn't to different so I just let her go.

I appreciate you sharing your experience. Yes, I’d thought I might give a stronger guide about the size and some examples of what the effects might be (eg a bit of silk and some yarns). I agree too that it’s best to let it go if people want to go off plan. I’d be reluctant to give them prefelt as I’m really keen not to over-direct their creativity. It will be interesting to see what happens next time.

I’m in Christmas card mass-production at the moment as I sell them through the gallery shop (where my studio is) as well as through the harbour beach hut gallery (I have 2 weeks there in November). I’m enjoying my newly reorganised and tidied studio - much easier to find things and put them away as well as to move about the room. I will be hanging pictures and framing things over the next 2 days ready for the open houses event which starts on Saturday.

Thanks Ruth and Lyn. Yes, as I say, mass production so I have to go for something fairly simple but who’d have thought tying so many little bows could be so fiddly, not to mention the 3 different types of glue - it may not be worth the effort!

Have you seen these two ways of making bows? Scroll down this blog page a little to find instructions on traditional bows: traditional bowsAnd here's a way to use a fork: bows using a forkOr this: 4 steps to a bow

Thanks Lyn! I will definitely give them a go. I’ve already made about 40 cards so 120 bows - I think I may already be a semi-professional standard tiny bow tie-er.
