My daughter has asked me to make her a felted skirt, just a simple A line style with a zip in the side. I think I can manage to calculate shrinkage so that I can cut out a resist which would make the skirt seamless. What I can't work out is how to insert the zip. If I just cut a slit I will end up with top stitching which I didn't really want around the zip. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

I am terrible at zippers. There are a bunch of tutorials online about inserting a zipper but I found nothing for a felt skirt zipper. Sorry, I'm not much help.

I think you need to look for an invisible zipper tutorial and then adapt it. If you use matching or invisible thread you wouldn't see it anyway.
