Yesterday I finished my latest picture “Oystercatcher, Wantsum Way”. Started by cobweb felting the ‘water’ to go in the foreground. I then made the background, laying the cobweb section over the pebbles so it would sit on top of them. The pebbles are bits and pieces of felt and prefelt offcuts plus some tan coloured silk, the wave includes silk hankies, Wensleydale locks and those nobbly bits that are a by-product of the wool industry (not as round as nepps, can’t remember the name!). Separately wet felted the bird then needle felted it onto the background and added the eye and legs in needle felt. It will be coming to the Harbour Gallery with me next week where it will have a lovely view of Whitstable Harbour, hopefully bathed in warm sunshine. I am an optimist.

Your oystercatcher is beautiful - I can almost smell the sea and hear the waves lapping! I don't think it will be for sale for long!

What a beautiful slice of the seashore. Thanks for the explanation. The cob web felt is perfect for the incoming water and I love the look of the beach. Your oystercatcher looks like he spied something to eat

Really Nice. I love the way you have made the pebbles look like they are under water.
