Thanks, Ann. Some good ideas. I especially like the bag interior idea.

I really like Ann's suggestion.
If I had the silk, I would take some time thinking of a design for a bag for myself. I would line it with the embroidered flower part, then you know it has a fancy inside, and use the other parts for inclusions on the outside.
If you are like me, most things are made to be sold, so treat yourself I say!

I’ve used silk as a lining for a handbag and it does add a nice touch.

I like the idea of bag lining. My idea is a cushion, perhaps with the heavily woven section on one side and the other side of nuno. You could patch several nuno sections together. Carol

Lovely suggestions, many thanks for all your replies. It’s such fun to chat with other felters as I’ve been doing this pretty much on my own for 6 years. Apologies that you’re bearing the brunt of a 6-year conversation reservoir!
I did have a go yesterday at felting a rectangle of the metallic embroidered section (courage in both hands, just snipped a chunk out) but haven’t taken a photo yet. I’ll post it when I do as I found it interesting. I’m still leaning towards a fairly plain-coloured raspberry pink rouched scarf as a starting point. I’m going to have to make another World of Wool order - I can hear my credit card flinching.
Confession time - I’ve never made a bag so I love the idea of the challenge but the learning curve is not something I can really take on at the moment. As you say Tracey, I’ve got to keep an eye on the saleable stuff as I have 2 weeks solo selling from a beach hut gallery at the end of this month and a group week in the Whitstable museum in early June as well as my hair salon exhibition running now & throughout April, May & June. ......something tells me I should stop chatting and get felting!

I like the sound of the beach hut gallery, I wish I was closer to come and have a look! Good for you for having these places that you need to keep topped up with your work. It is good to have focus. Here is a bag I made for myself when I started out that others have already seen, shapes can be kept simple. www.dropbox.com/s/0rv984y9447vdg4/20160929_175433%20%281%29.jpg?dl=0

Lindsay, we love to chat so don't worry about bringing up conversations. And we love seeing your work. It's great that you're staying busy and having all these exhibitions. I usually just write my ideas down in my studio notebook when I get them, then when I have time, I will remember what it was I wanted to do.
Tracey, I forgot about your bag, it's lovely.

Lindsay, it does take a bit of planning if you’re going to do pockets, flap, etc. Here is a post about the handbag i did some time back. This doesn’t have a silk lining. I thought I had lined it, but didn’t in the end. You can think about it while you’re attending all those exhibitions and sales. feltingandfiberstudio.com/2014/08/02/from-batts-to-a-handbag/

Thanks Ruth, I enjoy using it very much. I want to make a woodland type bag at some point, with felted leaves attached on the outside kind of thing, lovely Autumn colours etc.
Ha, then maybe I should go for the full house, a Winter and a Spring one too!

That bag is gorgeous Marilyn, I have not seen it before, it was before I joined. Lovely colour, it looks really robust. I have made bags with felted internal pockets. Planning is key with that kind of thing isn't it?!
By the way Lindsay won't have time to think about bag planning at her sales as she will be too busy taking customers money

Marilyn & Tracey - two very beautiful bags, thank you! I will store those thoughts away for when I do get time to do some more experimenting. The Harbour Gallery beach hut is great but a bit weather-dependent. We have a sort of time-share arrangement where I get about 6 weeks spread throughout the year. I don’t seem to have a really good photo but these will give you an idea. Fortunately I also do some photo prints on canvas so I don’t have to fill it with just felt. www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/46482534www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/46482536www.ipernity.com/doc/2373440/46482538

Lindsay - I love the hut! That would certainly draw me, so sweet but artistic. I hope the sun shines on your six weeks!

Very cool and I’ll bet the harbor will give you some inspiration for new projects. Good luck with sales and the weather!

Lindsay, good luck at the beach hut gallery it's a gorgeous location and you do beautiful work so I envisage much success.
Marilyn and Tracey, I hadn't seen your bags before and they're great. I'm planning on doing Teri's online bag making class next month so looking forward to making some of my own. Did you do another bag Marilyn? The strength of the handles is of some concern to me so I liked your idea for these and wondered if internal attachment worked and whether you had written that tutorial.
As a felting newbie all of your conversations are interesting and informative, so pleased that Ruth is encouraging you to continue.
