When your washing-up gloves spring a leak, don't throw them away. Cut off the thumbs and index fingers of both gloves. Slide them onto your thumbs and index fingers to provide a bit of grip on a piece fabric during free motion machine stitching. (I also cut the wrist part into circular strips to make rubber bands - waste not want not.)

My husband makes rubber bands by slicing across a punctured inner tube from his bicycle.

My husband makes rubber bands by slicing across a punctured inner tube from his bicycle. It's widely accepted that little acts of thrift make it ok to go mad with spending money on fibres

Good one Lyn and Tracy's Husband. They would be good finger protectors for needle felting too Lyn. I like your reasoning too Lyn.

Good one Lyn and Tracy's Husband. They would be good finger protectors for needle felting too Lyn. I like your reasoning too Lyn. I think they may be too loose for needle felting Ann, as there is a lot of hand movement when you're using the felting needle, but they are perfect for guiding felt around under the sewing machine needle.
