Ann - I would go with some trees on the horizon, small ones of course to suggest distance. I would personally go with two or three, left, right and maybe even the middle, a fraction different in height. Nice picture.

Yes to Tracey's ideas Ann,if you decide to add more detail you could include a shepherds hut and some trees, though I like it the way it is, loving the sheep those curls make me think of my bathroom floor after I have groomed and shaved my two bichons, those tight little curls are gorgeous, now you have inspired me with what I can do with them :-)

thanks Ladies, these sheep are made with french knots. The whole piece is 4.5 inches by 5.5 inches so real curls wher not possible.

Aah, I was wondering how you got such defined curls. Then I thought wow they are BIG French knots, until I carried on reading and saw the size of the picture....(imagine the size of the needle you would need to do a huge French knot!! - my brain does work in strange ways....)
I really like that idea Ann, I may have to steal it for my cards
The same method used for your Avatar picture I am guessing.

Hi Tracy the picture is larger than life. I don't seem to be able to post normal size pictures here. Yes the avatar is a close up of a travel mug cozy. It got lost somewhere much to my frustration.

I love the sheep. What did you use? My eye goes directly to the middle where there is nothing so you do need to add something. Just not sure what.

Ann, I agree with everyone I'd like to see trees and love, love, love the sheep! Could you just confirm for this novice that the French Knots are done after the rest has been felted? Thanks.

Thanks Nada, yes, those are gussets!
Ann, I like it the way it is but if you're adding trees, I would make them just vague tree shapes on the horizon.

Yes Pam they were done after. I did the sky ground and clouds as one wet felted piece. My next blog post will be on the picture. I will show you how it came together. I used hand embroidery floss. I think a few trees is what I will do.

I agree with trees, Ann. Maybe a Laburnum, so you can use fancy stitching like on the sheep

That looks like a great tree Zed but I think it would be better in the foreground.
