So what's everyone up to in February? Making anything for Valentine's Day?
I am working out what I want to do with my paint poured cotton. Does anyone know of a good tutorial for sewing a zippered bag with gussets? The tutorial I have doesn't make any sense to me.

Ithinksew might have some but they may cost money. Here's the link to the free patters page ithinksew.com/Account/FreePattern They put different ones on free form time to time. do you have a picture of what you want? I can check to see what I have.

Thanks Ann, I'll go look to see what they have. The size will be about 8" x 5" so just a little pouch with a zipper and gussets. Like a pencil or cosmetic bag.

I don't have a tutorial, or even a pic that I can find, but I made one with a front panel, back panel, and a strip which became the two sides and the bottom. I worked it out so the panel was the same width as the zip, so it was more like a box.
My daily doses the last couple of days have been getting out 'the box', and sorting the felt pieces into what they'll be useful for and have chosen some to make into purses.

The bicarbonate of Soda (baking soda) ratio of 2-1 with water, made into a paste and left on my cold iron for a few minutes and scrubbed off, seems to have helped with the last residue of interfacing stuck to it. A far more gentle approach than Zed's sandpaper method maybe

What is the picture of Ann?
I had not made a flower meadow scene for a while, I love doing these, especially the part of bringing it to life with the stitching, so I made one last week. I have that to sew today.
My plan is to get it framed and take it along to a craft fair or two rather than a gallery to see how it goes, and because it is made how I want it, if it is not sold, it will not be a problem as it will go on my wall. I do not have any like this on display as yet in my own home.

Picture update - Three leaves merrily stitched with the veins going the wrong way, so out came the stitch ripper, but great restraint - the swear box was not needed!
Doesn't the unpicking take forever.....

Looks great Carole, I like the texture of the added 'pleats'. Hadn't thought of that for adding texture with the sewing machine.

I have been needle felting a few pincushions and trying not to stab myself obviously. I remembered we had a rogue leather gardening glove, (the mice ate the other one, brand new..) so I chopped the fingers off and saved money not buying finger guards

My daily dose this last few days is working on a picture. I added sheep watching the Olympics with my mom Saturday. I think it needs more. Maybe some evergreens on the hill tops and/or a little cabin in the middle. I am not sure what do you think? suggest? not a great picture but ..
