Just signed up for a workshop for using Etsy. Not sure I will actually create an account, but it doesn't hurt to investigate the possibility. Does anyone on the list have one? Got any advice? Are you selling anything?

I have a personal etsy, I joined when I saw some cotton threads I just had to have. I did look into selling, but it said they require a credit card and I only have a debit.

I have one and they are pretty easy to set up. I found the etsy video tutorials to be long ,and disorganised. Like the guy didn't prepare for it. They let you play with all the settings before you go live so no one sees what you are doing as you set it up. I only added one thing so far. I have it on holiday at the moment. I forgot to turn it back on after market last Saturday. that is one think I did like I could put it in holiday mode so I could take things to a show and not have them sell on etsy and at the show. I need to get on with adding more things.

Hello Judy, my daughter and I have an Etsy shop and it was very easy to set up. We've never had any problems and we'd recommend it. We're always pleasantly surprised when we get noticed amongst all the thousands of listings and get a few sales!

An Etsy account or shop is great fun. Like Lyn mentioned you can go about your day check your mail and there is a payment from an Etsy customer, kind of makes your day. I started off on Ebay many years ago was out of the loop for a few years due to health problems and when I got back into it discovered the buzz about this new place called Etsy. Ebay kept raising their fees and an Etsy group formed from the crafters artisans that were disillusioned with ebay, and it grew from strength to strength. I'm a real techno phobe and probably don't use all of the bells and whistles available but I get by.

Thanks so much for this feedback. I was pretty unsure about it, as I do a lot of labor intensive things and it looked like the prices on things were very low. However, my small collages are very colorful and I can sell them at lower prices. So I figured those would be a good choice. The workshop covers the basics of getting started and other suggestions. I will take it on the 29th and probably get some small things together to launch it after that.

I am just starting to look around on Etsy. The low prices were kind of dismal. I will look around more as I work through the workshop research. I have to fill out a lot of papers to prepare for the class.

The high priced people sell just as much if not more than the cheap ones. When you underprice your work, people undervalue it.

Thanks so much for all this information. I am pretty much alone in my little fiber world. I exhibit at galleries with painters. I belong to a quilt club, but am not a quilter. I am Mixed Media and have to learn everything from reading and watching t.v. or DVD. Not the fastest way to learn things. The fiber arts guild here does a lot of weaving, but I should probably check them out.

I have and etsy account to sell on and a website that sends people to my etsy site-I joined two years ago and have not had one sale-don't know what is wrong-if anyone goes on my site and can see a problem please let me know-am I too expensive or maybe my work isn't good enough-I don't know-I see other people with similar things with higher prices-I don't know if etsy is good-thousands of thousands of site to shop from-seems like a little fish in a big ocean-I will try one more year and then it's bye bye-

On your website, at the bottom left, there is a big paragraph about your Etsy shop and it's underlined and in a bright colour and it looks like a link, but it's not.
As you don't mention on your website about clicking on the images to go to Etsy, I'm wondering if perhaps people aren't going to your Etsy shop via your website because they can't see how to?
You have some very nice felted hats!

Cynthia, your link is not working. That is probably why you are not getting buyers.
