I love the boats I think it really sets off the picture. It was nice before but now its fantastic. Glue is great stuff to use in this case. Thread would not look nice.

Tracey, the boats are a great addition and I agree with everyone else regarding it being perfectly acceptable to use glue with mixed media. Do you know the work of Ian Berry? He is a textile artist, working with recycled denim fabric on canvas and, as far as I know, he doesn’t use any stitch ....he glues! www.textileartist.org/ian-berry-behind-closed-doors/

Thanks Karen.
No I did not know of Ian Berry's work, it is fascinating. I noticed a comment had asked if he sews or glues and it hadn't been answered.

My choice of surface design is nuno and stitching - Valentine themed as it's February!

That is adorable Lyn! I love the colors, did that come from the fabric?

That is adorable Lyn! I love the colors, did that come from the fabric? Yes mostly but I made the final layer of merino wool fibres variegated in the hope that I could influence the final outcome.

I love it too Lyn, you are so good at this kind of work, very envious! How big do you roughly aim for, for this piece and the fishes?

I love it too Lyn, you are so good at this kind of work, very envious! How big do you roughly aim for, for this piece and the fishes? Thank you Tracey! Both the cockatoos and the fish, measured at the highest and widest points, are approx 12"x 11". The fish are stitched to a canvas measuring 20" x 18".
