Jane - Love your gelli print/nuno felted piece. The print is beautiful and is a perfect addition to the piece. Karen - Just love the portrait - unmistakably Hockney! The necklace is beautiful. Acrylic paper sounds interesting. I suppose it gives a little more rigidity without making it too thick???

Yes Judith, the paper is tough but quite thin so doesn’t make the items bulky.

I wonder if other papers would work too, I love both of your pieces Karen your Hockney inspired picture must have taken quite some time to complete.

Tracey, I love the sea glass boats, they are a perfect addition to your beach scene. And of course the pebbles and shell on the shore are a great addition too.

The sea glass boats are great. I have a bunch of sea glass I haven't touched yet. How did you attach?

The sea glass boats are great. I have a bunch of sea glass I haven't touched yet. How did you attach? I was hoping to sneak under the radar on this one ! To my shame I glued them on BUT my total defence rests on the fact that the picture was already sewn with calico on the back as a wall hanging and I didn't see much point unpicking it to put it all back together again.
If I am totally honest I really would not have fancied wrestling with invisible thread to try and position all those pieces where I wanted them. The shells are sewn on with invisible thread and I have sewn some shells on pods in the past with it too - I hate it !!!

Glue is used a lot in mixed media so why not glue the sea glass? Whatever works best is acceptable in a work of art.

Ok thanks Lyn, I'll stop feeling sheepish about it!

Thanks for the honest answer Tracey. I can only imagine how difficult it would be wrestle with the glass in the right position while trying to manage slippery thread. Lyn’s right, mixed media is just that.

Tracey, don't feel sheepish Using glue is definitely a thing in mixed media and I like the look of them without thread.

Thanks Ruth. You cannot see the thread on the shells because of the patterns and colour, but yes on the glass it would stand out in a bad way, looking all criss crossed and tied up.
