I still haven’t yet tried printing directly onto felt and now I’m thinking I need to try printing on Muslin and Nuno Felting it! The printing on your iPad case has worked really well Jane, thanks for inspiring me to have a go!

I love to work with mixed media so have made a few pieces, some more recent than others, which I think would fit in with this challenge. The first is an art quilt I made a couple of years ago inspired by David Hockney. I chose to make a version of his 1954 paper collage self portrait. The background is wallpaper from B&Q which I laminated to a cream dress netting, the face is hand drawn onto interfacing and then shadow created with sheer fabrics. Denim, courdroy and cotton fabrics were used for clothing. The hair was free machine stitching onto solvable fabric and the scarf was wet felted.

Thanks ladies. This particular challenge was for a piece 30cm x 40cm so a nice size to work with.

This Merino necklace is a more recent make. I used acrylic paper as inserts and found that it stands up to the Felting process really well. I’ve lots more of this paper in different colours and textures so it will be featuring a lot in future projects!

Lovely colors Karen. By acrylic paper, do you mean paper painted with acrylic paints or is it a special kind of paper?

Both pieces are great Karen! The Hockney is spot on and the necklace is a real 'statement' piece that would look very impressive with the right outfit. It's amazing that the paper didn't disintegrate.

Thank you all for the comments. Regarding the paper, it’s actually Tektura acrylic wallpaper samples. I was pretty hopeful it would stand up to the Felting process as it has a really sturdy backing and doesn’t tear. I studied for a degree in interior design a few years ago and had to gather lots of samples as part of the research and design process.....I kept these as they are so beautiful.
