I've been making a few 'components' for making felt pictures. Yesterday at the well being centre I did a bit of spinning and the others made wool kebabs. They were an art form in themselves! Oh, and what was really nice is two of the people who made landscape pictures last week who came again yesterday both said they framed their pieces and hung them up

I felted another vase picture today that I layed out yesterday. It is different as it has a black/tanzanite background. I will be bringing it to life tomorrow with light and dark threads.

Ann said she makes as many soaps as she can stand making, I think I've reached that point today! I'm putting 35 away for my craft stall in November, please say you all think that's enough!!

35 soaps, Tracey, that's more than enough. Do they sell well? I am preparing for a "fashion show" within the famework of a local Wool Festival in September. In addition to the garments I have made this year I've made three sets for small girls, which include a vest and short trousers. They are now in the fitting stage and I'll show them when the are completely finished. Also, I started making a dress which is going to be felted on lace. I saw the work of a Russian master, Svetlana Timofeeva, and what intrigued me is that she claims there is no shrinkage with her technique. Well, the samples show this is true and I'll see how it works on a real project. So today I was making a pattern and preparing lace.

35 should be enough although it's hard to sell the last couple they look lonely. It will give you a gage. I make up little cards to go with them so people who get them as gifts know what they are.

I don't think you can ever have enough felted soaps! The cards are a really good idea, Ann. I did a little explanation for the garden centre shop, and a woman at the fair asked me if I had any cards the same. Hopefully, I'll remember for next time.
I've made a few things which seemingly had no shrinkage, Nada, though they were quite thick so if the depth was taken into account for starting area/volume it probably wouldn't be true! It doesn't sound like you'd want a dress as thick!

Hope they will of course.
Good luck with your preparations for your fashion show.

Good idea regarding the cards Ann. I am planning to set an A4 card above them with all the bullet points about felted soap that Lyn suggested a while back.

Wow Nada, that looks like a challenge. I can't wait to see how it turns out for you. Good luck with the fashion show. It would be great if you could write a blog for us afterwards.

Interesting technique Nada. It doesn't even look like felt hardly. I look forward to seeing how it comes out.
Tracey, 35 soaps for your first time sounds pretty good. Is it a one day fair?

Nada that is beautiful, good luck, what colour are you going for?
Ruth yes it is only one day. It is normally 'manic' regarding footfall, they reckoned about 200 visitors last year, and it is only a small village fair. I will let you know how I get on!
