Nice pieces Lyn and Cathy. I still haven't really decided on what I want to do. I was thinking a persimmon tree but then I thought of doing mount Fuji or one of the Japanese monsters of the time. I am still not sure.

Thanks Ruth & Ann. BTW, Ann--I almost included Mt. Fuji in my piece but didn't--so it's waiting for you!

A very nice piece Cathy which demonstrates the isolation so well. On one of our visits to Japan, we visited Nagasaki and the reconstructed island of Dejima. Now a History Museum; it is where Christian Missionaries were kept in isolation and only the Dutch were allowed to trade with the rest of the world. I have some ideas, but due to this gammy shoulder I'm not able to get off the blocks.

Thanks, koffipot. Although I did not visit Nagasaki whilst in Japan a few years ago, I do remember reading about the history you describe. And yes, the horrific photos of Christian martyrs.

When I think of Japan, blossom is the first thing that comes to my mind. Your wall art is serene, delicate and pretty.

Thanks Lyn! I was fortunate to be there during Sukura and it is breathtaking. My son and his wife purposely chose that time to get married so it has additional special meaning.

Two really different and fabulous pieces Lyn and Cathy, I just love the amount of detail in both, how a subtle change in white can create such a difference, and Cathy I love how the hidden pieces emerge.

I am in awe of your skill. It is a beautiful piece. My comment was aimed originally at the piece on page one but now having seen the bird with the fish on page two I extend it to that one too. Both pieces are certainly beyond me and make me realise how much I have to learn. Fabulous works ladies!

And the good news is that it never stops.

I never got to this one. Life has been to busy. We do a new challenge each quarter. Watch this section for the link to the challenge.
