What a lovely pot, Lyn. I love the colours of the yarn, and this simple spiral on white background is so effective.

The simplicity makes it beautiful Lyn, really lovely. My, the yarn stayed in place well, did you give it the same talking to that you give your nepps?!
I must do more work in whites and creams, not something I have a lot of in my stash at the moment, but Woolfest is fast approaching - or should I say 'looming'....

Lyn, I was going to do something similar. Haha! Now I have to change it up. Great minds think alike! You should go ahead with your plan - no two pods are ever the same even when you think they might be.

I can't believe the spiral stayed in place so well - I was pleasantly surprised! The real movement in the yarn is at the place where I took it from one side of the resist to the other. The pod was made 'inside out'. I rubbed a bar of wet soap over the resist to make it sticky and I dunked the four pieces of yarn in soapy water then squeezed them so they weren't dripping, to make them heavy enough to stay in place. During the making the dye started to leak from the pink part of the yarn but it didn't stain the white at all - I have made white pots before where the dye stained the white and I just let it be part of the 'design'.

Lovely design Lyn. If you had cut the hole differently wouldn't that change where the spiral appeared? I like the effect you got on the side of the pod even though it doesn't show "spiral" immediately, it has a lovely set of lines.

It certainly would Ruth - might be worth a try to see what happens - Marilyn? There's another photo of the other side of the pod in our blog post and a credit/link to the lady who demonstrated how to draw a quadruple spiral (and other spirals) - very useful indeed!

I got a book from the library, "Celtic Art" by Ruth and Vincent Megaw, and very interesting it was too. On the cover was a dragonesque brooch: book coverSo I made a felty one: felt dragonesque broochIf you click 'actions' then 'see all sizes' then choose 2048, the largest, you can see the felt really close up. Lovely light for taking photo yesterday - all I had to do was crop it in Pic Monkey - I love these long days.

Wonderful! I love that the design is "reversible". Either way up. The stitching really sets it off.

I saw your work Lyn, lovely and the symplicity makes it so beautiful...how do you do that? I am busy with a vessel , it has to dry and than i can make cutaways so it will possibly look a bit Celtic. When it is ready , i will tell you more..and show a pic.
