Here's my effort for the second quarter challenge that Ann posted here: link to challenge detailsThe early Celts certainly liked scraping spirals into rocks, so that was my inspiration for this picture made by wet felting, needle felting and free motion stitching. It's 11"x8" (28x20cm)

That is wonderful Lyn, lovely cheery bright colours and a super snail! Your free motion sewing makes me itch to do some!!

Thank you Tracey. I like the freedom of 'messy' stitching - it's fun!
p.s. I probably unpicked about the same amount as I stitched - I kept changing my mind about how to do the spirals but luckily handmade felt doesn't show needle holes.

I love it Lyn. The flowers are great but the snail is something else. I need to start thinking more seriously about this challenge.

I always learn something new with each challenge. As a girl I wandered freely around the stones at Stonehenge, but unfortunately, because of vandalism, the stones are now roped off and only a few are allowed in. I believe some of the magic disappeared from this location when things like 'a visitor centre' and other modern 'attractions' were added. However, I found this page interesting and relevant to the challenge and I learnt something new about Stonehenge - don't be put off by the page's garish appearance: www.learning-mind.com/ancient-celtic-astronomy-symbols-carl-jungs-collective-unconscious/

Very interesting Lyn. Things are not always what they appear, but have deeper meaning than we can imagine. You were lucky to be able to wander free there as a child.

Thanks for that link, Lyn I was just moaning yesterday that it's such a swizz that we only get one life, there's not enough time to do everything, let alone learn everything, and there's more cool stuff everyday!

I found it confusing as it talks about X's but most of what I see is spirals.

This challenge has got me thinking spirals! I made a simple white pod with a quadruple wool yarn spiral on both sides of the resist. The spiral is easy to see on the bottom of the pod (display it on a very high glass shelf then?) and it's easy to see on the top of the pod (display it on a very low shelf then?) but in 'normal' viewing position it doesn't show at all. Doh!

I like the pot. I really need to do some more thinking about this and get on with it or I may miss my own challenge. School ends on the 23 and 28th so maybe I can find tme to squeek it in then. I don't know what happened to my schedual.
