The result is super, Tracey. I also like lots of embellishment on top. You made lovely cards. If there is a Christmas exchange I hope I'll be in pair with you to receive one.

My daily dose was running a beginners' wet felt workshop. 5 ladies made a notebook cover each, with plaid type designs. They all got something usable, even though they were rather thick & I had to help with fulling as they all made them way too big! Everyone went home happy. Phew.
No photos, I forgot of course.
The week after next, I have rashly agreed to do a felt picture session. At least everyone has felted once or more already, & I have told them to make a very simplified landscape, but yikes!

Yikes indeed! It must have been a good experience for the new felters as they are coming back for more!

Nada, that is a really lovely thing to say, thank you so much! Yes I will definitely be taking part in a Christmas exchange this year if there is one, last year I felt too 'new', so I wanted to sit back and see what you all got up to!

It is totally my goal to run my own class in the future. I am sure it is hard work and frustrating at times, but rewarding. I enjoyed every minute of my first class, and I would love to instill in others the fun, enjoyment and addiction that I came away with. I really envy you Jill!

Jill, have you any prefelts for them to play with? You could also show them your Fauvism piece.

Wow, a felt picture class in a short time period is a lot to take one. We'd love to see photos so do take photos if you remember and have time.

I am behind. that was funny Zed , about the cat cave. That's not a good detailed tutorial its just a quick how too. I love the pink form green I wonder if another fixative would have helped.
The card is great, I love all the curls on it.
I love teaching but yes it can be a challenge. Sometimes some of the students can be a bit over ambitious. My dose yesterday was doing some spinning. some very bright multicoloured roving that I thought would be ghastly but is turning out quite nice. On Sunday I wet to a spin in where our art show is hung. One of the pictures I have in the show has been sold. so that is very exiting.

Luckily the students for the picture class have felted a couple of times before - the newbies this week did get an invite but they were not available (thank goodness, that would have been too hard for me!) & a couple of those coming paint so they will understand composition theory etc. I have explained how their photo will be just an inspiration, that they should not bring photo of people, animals, buildings ... just nature, so hopefully they can all manage something! I am going to use batts for the first couple of layers to make it fast & even, so they can concentrate on the design. Perhaps I'll print a couple of simple local landscapes - (eg sky, hills, sea) in case they don't have a usable scene.

I might have to do two posts, I'm forgetting what I want to reply and to who!
Judith, I only planted the Honestly fairly recently, I had to dig a border, but our Rowan trees have 'snowed' petals everywhere so it's hard to see anything at the moment!!
Tracey, those cards look great! I have some aperture cards I was going to use for little paintings, I might have to try them with felt, how do you secure them? Oh, if you want to do a felt class, how about doing one at a well being centre to start? I started because an existing group wanted to try a new craft, so they paid for start-up supplies/equipment (and I got loads of donations from members here).
Jill, I've done a couple of landscape felt classes, one thing I realised was if you have limited time, it's a good idea to limit choices ... i.e just a few blues and greens of wool, and also some dyed locks and embellishment fibres.

Jill definitely have some pictures for them to use. In my experience there is always at least one that decides to do exactly what you said not too do. I am sure you will have a great class. the first ones are the most nerve racking but once you start you will be fine. you knw what you are doing.
Thanks Lyn. I don't really do art pieces. I would like to do more and this is encouraging.

Thanks Zed,, secured with good old glue (bostick). Glue back of felt to first fold, apply glue to edges of aperture and keep pressing! The vase wrap felt is a little too thick for this purpose but I was determined to make it work. I wrapped some light material around the card and pressed them under a pile of books. Thinner felt for subsequent cards. I think some people use double sided tape, glue for me though.
